Assign Service Automatically

When interfaced to a service order system, Plant provides for the automated assignment of network elements. Assignment is activated when Plant receives parameters from the service request, such as the class of service, service order number, circuit ID, etc. Plant uses this information to select the appropriate network elements and make the assignment.

Wire Center Assignment. Plant selects a wire center based on the address where service is requested. If a previously connected (left-in-place) circuit is available, Plant reassigns it to the new customer. If a left-in-place circuit is not found, Plant selects the necessary network elements to establish a circuit path.

Line Termination Equipment (LTE) Assignment. Plant assigns a vacant line termination component or a left-in-place component according to the class of service requested (if one is required). The system understands the relationships that can exist between switches and DLCs. These relationships are accounted for in the assignment process when a DLC is involved.

Manual Overrides. A user can override automatic assignments if necessary. Service orders that cannot be assigned automatically are routed to assignment management areas within the application for corrective action.
